Youth In Education Committee The Downtown Rotary Club of Houston

Youth In Education Committee

The Youth in Education Committee aims to provide the youth, of our Juvenile Justice System, the hope for a second chance. The Committee provides the tools and the necessary support, so they can have a successful career in our community, as well as a unique opportunity, for adoptive parents to meet these children and find their forever family.

The first service project of the Rotary Club of Houston began in 1919, when it supported the young residents of the Burnett-Bayland County Home. The support from the Burnett-Bayland Committee has continued uninterrupted for 97 and counting. Today, the Committee is involved in workshops, preparing the youth for entering into the workforce successful and also helps continue this joy through it’s Annual Holiday Party. The “Hearts for Children - CPS Adoption Festival” is also a big component of the Youth in Education Committee.
At this event, prospective, adoptive parents, whom have approved home studies, are able to mingle with children between the ages of 5 and 17, which are in the custody of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and looking for their forever families. These children and prospective parents get to know each other, in a fun-filled, relaxed environment, full of interactive games, entertainment and even a visit from the Houston Texan’s Football Mascot.
