Rotary Salute to Veterans Day Luncheon
Come and honor our veterans at our fundraising luncheon Nov. 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ballroom at Bayou Place, 500 Texas St. Dress is business. There will be a special recognition for WWII and Korean War veterans. All veterans will be recognized.
RSVP by Sunday, Nov. 4. Members ticket is included with membership, but you MUST RSVP to reserve your seat. Any RSVPs made within 72 hours of an event may not have a guaranteed seat or meal.

This is a fundraising event. 100% of the net revenue will stay in Houston to directly benefit Houston veterans.

  • premium location table of 10 is $1,500 (limited availability),

  • standard table of 10 is $1,000,

  • and individual guest tickets or to sponsor a seat for a veteran is $75.

You can also donate any amount to help our efforts with local veteran charity groups. This donation does not include a meal at the luncheon.

This is is an expanded program, please arrive on time. Featured events include:

  • Posting of Colors and bugler by Texas A&M Color Guard,

  • patriotic songs performed by the 60 member choir from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts,

  • National Anthem performed by a featured soloist,

  • special recognition of WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam veteran guest,

  • and an informative program presented by LTG Steven Hummer (Ret.), current Director of Combined Arms.

This fundraiser is sponsored by USO Houston and US Naval Academy Alumni Association - Texas Gulf Coast Chapter.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER

Our guest speaker is Lt. General Steven A. Hummer. U. S. Marines (RET) who has served since June 2013 as Deputy to the Commander for Military Operations for United States Africa Command.

Hummer previously served as Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve and Marine Forces Northern Command. After enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1970 and an honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1973, he was commissioned following graduation from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1977. Hummer was born in Pennsylvania in 1952, the son of a Marine and Navy chaplain.

He has served as a Rifle Platoon Commander to Lieutenant General. Among his many global assignments, he has served as Department Head, Naval Expeditionary Warfare Training, Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific; Chief of Staff, Joint Special Operations Command, Commanding General, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and Deputy Commander, Marine Forces Pacific; Chief of Staff, US Special Operations Command; Assistant Deputy Commandant, Headquarters Marine Corps; and Deputy Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command.

Hummer's military education includes Officers Infantry Course, Amphibious Warfare School, Command and Staff College, and School of Advanced Warfighting within the Marine Corps University; and the Air War College. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Psycho-Biology from Albright College and a master's degree in international security studies from the Air War College.
