ABOUT RYAN PATRICK
Ryan Patrick is the 23rd presidentially appointed United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas and, as such, is the chief law enforcement officer responsible for prosecuting and defending the interests of the United States in the seventh largest district in the nation. The Southern District is responsible for more than 11% of all federal criminal cases.
Patrick began serving as U.S. Attorney on Jan. 8, 2018, following his presidential nomination in November 2017 and subsequent unanimous Senate confirmation.
In 2006, Patrick began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County. His final assignment in the office was in the Major Offenders Section prosecuting narcotics trafficking and as the lead prosecutor combatting illegal pill mill operations in greater Houston. Patrick also spent three years as call out prosecutor for criminal vehicle fatalities.
In 2012, then Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Patrick judge of the 177th state district court. He was elected to a full four-year-term in November 2012. While on the bench, Patrick chaired Harris County’s justice technology committee, and served as the test court for the new hardware and systems for criminal eCourt conversion. Additionally, in four and half years on the bench, Patrick presided over 120 felony jury trials.
Prior to this position, Patrick was in private practice, serving as the managing partner of The Law Office of Ryan Patrick PLLC and senior counsel with Hoover Slovacek LLC, where he focused on felony criminal defense work.
Patrick graduated from Baylor University in 2001 and holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law where he was inducted into the Order of Barristers. He won multiple mock trial awards at the regional and national level.
